Hugo Meets Garden Yeti

Update: The video seems pretty slow and jerky on my machine and not sure blogger is up to the task of playing HD video yet(i).

Wow. This arrived on our doorstep compliments of Rob & Katy.

I must say, a fine addition to the backyard.

Hugo has some reservations however....

Tomato Fest 2009 Begins

Ah. Tomato season is finally upon us.

We have four plants this year...
Here is a photo of our first delicious plate (with fresh garden grown basil, fresh mozzarella and balsamic vinaigrette of course).

Note: These are Yellow Pear and and Jaune Flamme tomatoes.

Nutbags Unite!

Gina, Andrew and the kids came to visit this week.

Had a great time hanging out and catching up with these nutbags. It's been a long time.

The highlight of the eating experience was Bamboo Sushi. The wait for round two was way to long but, the sushi was pretty awesome.

The girls are enjoying cupcakes at the Flying Elephants Deli downtown.

Not sure what inspired this photo...

Susan, Gina and the girls hit the Aerial Tram as well. They were lucky the cloud cover cleared for the trip.

And the obligatory family photo before these guys headed back to the East Bay. We may look a little baggy eyed and moving a little slow since we had to have a fire last night.

Zip Line - Icy Strait Point

Largest zip line in the world apparently.

Very surprised that we made the effort and were quite pleased with the happy ending...

Alaska Cruise 2009 - Photo Gallery

Susan and I made it home the other day. Just in time for ANOTHER heatwave here in Portland.

Had a great time on this trip and we have the photos to prove it.

Alaska Teaser

Once I get some time to work through all the photo and video from this trip, we can make a better update with some chronology based schema.

Until then, this is what we have to offer (Click on the photo to go to the web album)...

The Twins!

Here in Vancouver today. Some haze from the fires around the BC area. Should be a temperate 73 degrees today.

So, to get to the meat of the post. We went for an iced coffee in the Gastown District and on the way back we were amazed to see 2, count em... 2 sets of conjoined twins on a tour bus. They were stopped and we got a couple of quick photos!

Note the first set I believe is Lori and Dori (Dori prefers to be called George). They have been in a number of documentaries over the years.

Not sure who these little ones are but, it looks like they may not be able to be separated as well. Unlike Bill Frist, I am not a Doctor in a position to make the call.

Here is a shot of the sunset from last night with goat...

Alaska Cruise 2009 - Mush My Friends

We have been waiting since January to head out for this trip and we leave tomorrow!

Our travel companions, Rob and Katy, almost didn't make it. They pulled it out at the last minute thank god. Here are a couple of oldies from past trips (Mexico and NYC).

We head out via Amtrak to Seattle and then transfer to a coach to Vancouver. We decided to do this as opposed to flying and to see more potential sights (also it was $120 bucks for both of us all the way through with business class on the train).

We will then be in Vancouver BC for 2 nights and plan to hit Vij's Indian Restaurant on Thursday after Rob & Katy Arrive. Not sure where we will eat tomorrow night and will play it by ear. Possibly West Restaurant & Bar.

This is our first cruise ever and pretty fuckin excited (and concerned at the same time). We will be sailing the recently refurbished (2007) Celebrity Millenium for 7 nights, Concierge Class on the Sky Deck (with veranda of course). We will be on the right side of the ship for ultimate viewing all the way north.

We also have pre-booked the helicopter sightseeing and glacier walk about tour out of Juneau and the 5 hour Kenai Fjords boat tour out of Seward. Our expectations are high for both and we should not be disappointed.

Here is our travel map screen shot from Tripadvisor.com and our planned itinerary below that.
