Not Practical?

You have to be kidding!  This is the best idea since sliced bread for celebrating NYE.  No longer will you be required to cover one eye with your hand while driving home.  This is clearly the pet rock of the new decade and I would recommend a pair for each man, woman and child of driving age.

Have a Happy New Years Eve!

OMG, I Have To Gooo!

Shopping for the Hugonot today revealed what we have all been striving for as a people.  I think it speaks for itself...

Drum roll for the final product shot...

Christ, what's next?

Surprise!

We were hit by a surprise snow storm yesterday afternoon.  I think we got about 2 inches which was quite impressive.

It was supposed to be gone by this morning but, whaddya know, it's still here!  Should melt off today though.

Susan got into the spirit  as you can see here with a delightful Deck Snow Angel...

It then proceeded to a full blown Snow Woman with a little help from Vueve Cliquot (Susan threw the kitchen sink into this one, or at least the sponge for the facial features)...

Due to the rain (or the drink), she didn't last long...

Off to the coast tomorrow and we will be in Cloud Nine.  Should be a blast with Evyl K, Jim, Thea and Michael.  Beach walks, hot tub, games and who knows what else.

Plan is to have a NYE Fondu, Crab Feast the next night and Fresh catch of the day for the third night.  Should be awesome!

Michael Wish You Were Here?

Well we made it through another Christmas season (assuming there are no trips to the hospital today:)!

Meant to take photos from last night but, we forgot the camera.  Oh well, this is what you get...

Enjoy the day!

Feed Me!

Lunch Thursday with Marilyn & Friends should be fun.  Susan is cooking up a Vegetarian Lasagna, Shrimp and Bean Salad and I will be providing the Ham courtesy of Honey Baked Ham.

Decided from the recent Turducken experience that I would go for convenience and hopefully guaranteed, tender, deliciousness this time around.  Should be interesting and I will report back on this decision.

Post lunch Thursday will consist of heading over to Liby & Dan's for the Xmas eve party.  Should be fun and will post pics from tomorrow when we get a chance.

White Elephant

Thanks to Heidi and Julian for the WE party last night.

Susan picked up a small library of Dragon Ball Z VHS tapes (Japanese Anime) which we hope to find a use for.  In fact, Someone actually drove by earlier today and dropped them on the stoop and took off because Susan forgot to bring em home.

I scored a one of a kind home made Snuggie which has a floral body motif, denim sleaves with a Slayer patch on one arm and a Motorhead patch on the other.  Truly an amazing "gift".

So here we go, photos from the evening (click on the link or photo to go to the web album)...

Christ And Into The Wild

After years of Xmas sans tree, a couple atheists have committed ourselves to a Christmas tree. I think this would make Bill O'Reilly proud (take that war on Xmas!).  Maybe I should retract and say this is a holiday tree.

The tree has an outer space and robot theme (nod to Obama for his focus on technology and education?). Pretty cool if I may say so myself.  We purchased the used fake tree from House of Vintage up on Hawthorne.

We even made some of our own ornaments by purchasing and creating Shrinky Dinks!

Plan is to post ornament photos tomorrow when we have better lighting.

On another note, Susan and I just read, "Into The Wild" by John Krakauer.  If you have not read this book, I would highly recommend it.  Great read, real story and a mystery like approach.

Baby It's Cold Outside

To be honest, it did hit 40 today but, the last few days have been pretty chilly.

Here is s quick video of Hugo showing off his winter outerwear before his walk yesterday...

And a picture of the fountain up by Marilyn's place.

Gooooo Beavers!

The Civil War is on tonight and I am rootin for the Beavers (Susan's AM).  If they win this, it will be the Beavers vs. Ohio State.

Might have to root for the Beavers again in the Rose Bowl as I am no fan of Ohio State.

Punk Rock @ Burgerville

Evyl K gave us a ring at around 5pm for flash mob type gig that Jim (Dooom Patrol) was playing at Burgerville last night.  Pretty hard core for the Burgerville if you know what I'm sayin.

Funny thing is we saw our hipster neighbor outside after the show.   She did not see us and probably does not know us at all.

Other great pics from the evening...

And for the finale, Josie sportin' Andy's cow boy boots!

Why Is...

And it's not because of Tiger Woods' "transgressions"!

Here are some random photos from our walk about town today as well (click the photo to see the album)...

Another Notch In Mi Belt

Heather and Doug left around Noon today and we all made it through another harrowing T-day extravaganza.

Tons of food and everyone seemed to be puttin on their holiday cheer!

The Anomaly Is In The Oven!

UPDATE 2:  The TDC is starting to flow the juices nicely at this point.  Basting has begun in earnest!

UPDATE:  The TDC has been in the oven for just about four hours now.  Very little juices so far being produced to baste with.  I suspect plenty of juice to come as it still needs five hours until it should be done.

Not panicking yet.
......................

The alarm worked and the Turducken is safely in the oven.  Slow cooking to a state of nirvana!

Gobble, Quack, Cluck!

Picked up the Turducken earlier this evening. The bird(s) is resting quietly in the fridge for tomorrow's festivities.  I believe this is also stuffed with rice, cranberry and sausage to boot.

One surprise was this order does NOT come with the legs for some reason.  Called after we got home once I noticed they were missing and they declared they remove the legs (not the wings) and put them in their meat case.  Not sure this this is totally ethical but, I figure we have enough meat to run with it.

I think this baby weighs in at about 11.3 pounds sans bones.  Plan is to pop this melding of poultry meats into the oven at 8am, cook for a marathon 9 hours while basting every 90 minutes.  Then it sets for a mouth watering hour until we carve it and begin the feast.

2 cheesecakes have been made and are comforting the anomaly that sits in the fridge, turducken that is.

Susan plans to also make winter squash gratin (guyere, butternut squash and tomato).

Friends are currently signed up to bring Salad, Stuffing, Pumpkin Pie, Green Beans, Mashed Potatoes and beverages.

My stomach hurts already.

2 Cases Of 5oz Woozies

We were running low on the best hot sauce on the planet and received our shipment yesterday!  I think that Peter can testify to the validity of this claim as he is in Belize as we speak.

Since there web site is under construction still, the sauce can be ordered from here.  We are partial to the Habenero Pepper Sauce (red and pretty friggin hot) and the Green Habenero Sauce (green and not as hot but made with a tasty nopal/prickly pear foundation).

Note on the ordering site that the green with nopal is misrepresented with the wrong digital image of a red sauce and this caused me some confusion at first but, we did receive the right product.

Apparently woozy is the model of bottle for the product and not my state of mind (at least at this moment).

Thanksgiving Prep & Cannibas

We decided to get off our duffs and clear out the coat closet yesterday. The inspiration was provided by the coat drive we saw on the noon news. I think we dropped off 5 coats.

After that we headed to Grocery Outlet to buy up some goods to help the Oregon Food Bank distribute meals for Thanksgiving this year. Pretty amazing really what you can get for your money at this place and it was more fun to choose the foods rather than buying some pre-pack gift bag (not that this doesn't count of course).

Here is a shot of the Portland Airport (PDX) we snapped off as we drove by...

After our good deeds were completed, we stopped by New Seasons to order the Turducken meal we will be serving at our house this year.  To our surprise, we will have to cook it ourselves and this will take about 9 hours!

All I can say is sorry Susan and Let's Eat!

Oh, and if we need help finishing off the birds, we can grab our medical marijuana cards and head to the new Cannibas Cafe that just opened in Portland (at 4:20 of course).

Cannabis Cafe opens for medical marijuana patients in Northeast Portland

Totally cool and here is a video from the show....

Bagels, Thing and Hugo

Walked over to Kettleman's bagels this morning.  3 Garlic and One Onion bagel to go.  Separate bag for the Onion please. Honestly the bagel photo on their site looks a little gross and doesn't do them justice.

We saw this guy on the way over...

Believe it or not, this is the first bagel place we went to since we moved from Manhattan.  And we just went for the first time about 2 months ago.  Guess we were hedging on the whole NW bagel thing and couldn't hold out any longer. Mighty Fine bagels and we have been going regularly ever since.

Here is another vintage auto that is fighting to stay on the road.

Gotta love the mug on this fella.

Sun Day Walk About

Great day in Portland yesterday! Got up to an awesome 65 degrees and we took full advantage of it.

Walked around with Hugo, picked up some Peet's Arabian Mocha Java (pound of whole beans) and then lunch.

Post lunch activities included aerating the lawn, top dressing, cutworm killer, fertilizer and overseed. Took longer than we thought for our meager 200sf back yard. However, it's done and now all we need is the rainfall the new lame weather man has promised for today (sun was out a few minutes ago).

Here are some pics from the walk today...

Squirrels In The Sun

How about these two beasts sunning themselves on the roof peak of the garage today..

Also, here is a cool shot of the Japanese Maple out front.  It turned bright orange just in time for Halloween.
