Pretty fucking cool and loads of fun to listen to!

Astoria Is So Sweet

Had a ball with our Denver friends playing Euchre and hearts the other night. Susan shot the moon to tie for the win with Pat for Christs sake.

Andrea made it to the coast yesterday and that was awesome as well.

Plan was to head home today but, we just could not bring ourselves to do it. It was still 99 in Portland, we bolted to Astoria (it was in the 60's) instead and happy about it.

Beat The Heat 2009

We drove like bandits out of town yesterday in order to beat the heat. Maybe the best decision of 2009.

It was 103 yesterday, today tracking to 105 and possibly a record over 107 and tomorrow 104. In summary, brutal. If we wanted to live in the desert, we would have moved to the desert.

At the coast it was about 83 yesterday, maybe 87 today and 86 or so tomorrow. And to think I'm smiling about those temps says something.

And... If I hear another global warming denier say its "cold" in Chicago or Minneapolis this summer, I say come out west mofos.

Thought we would share some Cannon Beach photos as well (Click the photo for the slide show)

The Great Heatwave Escape (Cannon Beach OR)

Who would of guessed it could be so fuckin awesome at the coast? Probably most anyone.

Favorite Dog Contest

The time has come and your vote should count.

Our local newsers have a cutest dog contest going and the time is now. It should be obvious who the winner should be even though we did not enter the Hugo.

I think this one would have won...

Or this one...

Urban Chicken Farming

So, it seems one of our neighbors has taken the plunge. The last couple of mornings (not too early thank god), we have heard the cluck cluck of the hens.

No Roosters to report. Either way this is an interesting development and we will have to see how they assimilate into the hood.

Does This Get Your Goat?

Or what?

WTF? This goat can't drive 55!

We saw this poor goat on I-84 East in a makeshift chicken wire trailer. He sure looks a little less sure footed than he normally would.

One Reggie D To Go Please

If you are one to believe that Gay marriage will bring the world to it's knees, then you have another thing coming. It has the sign of the beast fried into it and it is known as the Reggie Deluxe from Pine State Biscuits.

This demonic vittle has One egg, Bacon, fried chicken, cheese and gravy wedged between two parts delightful biscuit.

Thank God for Caduet I like to say.

After pounding this mother down, Susan and I went for a walk (3 miles before the heat ratcheted up) and I swear, I could smell the Reggie oozing out of my pores.

This may be an annual thing as I can hardly fathom it as a regular, although delicious, staple. Not too mention, it took me a year and 4 months of living here to gather the courage.

Here is a picture with the flash on which really makes it look intimidating.

The Stallion Rolls

Check out this little Filly. This was a first for us and we saw it on our last trip.

Finally took the time to zoom in on the pics to find out what it is. This is a trike bike manufactured by none other than Thoroughbred Motorsports. This model is the Stallion and it runs a cool $32,995 semolians. It even has a steering wheel, heat, AC and a trunk.

Seems as if they finished their production line just last February.

If you want to get in on the new product name game (new product is a trailer and the winner gets a free one), just click here.

Post 4th Post

Back in the saddle again (or should I say couch surfing comfortably at home).

We had a great time with the SF Browns in Burney Ca and also popped into Crater Lake on the route home.

It was very hot and we spent lots of time at the lake and in the water. Thank god it cooled down at night or we may not have survived.

The camp ground was great and getting a cabin is highly recommended since it stays cool inside for a good part of the day. More importantly in the am when the sun comes up and the tent becomes a wood burning oven, it helps to have an escape plan (cabin/lake).

Doug and I got skunked fishing but, its the thought that counts.

Here is the slide show from the trip...

Burney Falls Tomorrow - Happy 4th!

Damn straight! We are going camping and taking the Hugo and the Kayak for 4th weekend.

Meeting Heather, Doug & EJ with plans to attempt to catch some fresh trout and live off the fat of the land. With that in mind, we will be bringing Thai food from Pad Thai Kitchen for our first nights dinner (Drunken Noodle, Tofu and Red Curry, Pra Ram with Peanut Sauce).

The Forecast:

The Plan:

Water sports and hydration as it will be friggin hot as a MF'r. The river and Lake Britton should be accommodating in this respect.

Our site is very cool (we hope) that brags a small cabin, tent space, table, fire ring and parking for 2 vehicles. The grounds have real toilets and showers too! Not the Ritz but, what can you expect.

Have fun!
